At CES 2025, Spatial9, Google and Music AI presented music rendered in Eclipsa Audio, the new immersive audio format from Google and Samsung. Spatial9's rendering technology turned stereo music into Eclipsa Audio tracks that play on YouTube. At launch, it was available to creators through Music AI's platform.

## What Eclipsa Audio is

Eclipsa Audio was developed by Google and Samsung and is based on IAMF (Immersive Audio Model and Formats), an open, royalty-free standard from the Alliance for Open Media. Google and Samsung announced the format just before CES 2025, with support in Samsung's 2025 TVs and soundbars and on YouTube.

- One file, many devices. The same file adapts to headphones, phones, TVs and soundbars, and no special headphones are needed for the binaural version.
- Open and royalty-free. Creators and device makers do not pay licence fees to use the format, although devices go through a certification process.
- Works with existing codecs. IAMF carries audio coded with Opus, AAC, FLAC or uncompressed audio.

"Our partnership with Google and Music AI to launch Eclipsa Audio-rendered music is a monumental step toward democratizing immersive audio for the masses," said Luiz Zanardo, Co-Founder and CEO of Spatial9.

## Who did what

- Google: co-developer of Eclipsa Audio, with Samsung, and YouTube playback.
- Spatial9: AI rendering of music into Eclipsa Audio.
- Music AI: creator platform where Spatial9's rendering was offered at launch.

At the show, Spatial9 demonstrated the tracks at Booth 60860 in Eureka Park, Venetian Expo.

Eclipsa Audio playback is now live on YouTube, and Google has released an open-source plugin for mixing in the format. Creators can now make Eclipsa Audio directly in Spatial9. To learn how, read our guide to Eclipsa Audio for YouTube creators or convert an existing Dolby Atmos master.

## What to keep in mind

- Playback depends on the device and app. Listeners on unsupported devices hear a stereo or binaural version.
- Spatial9 did not create the Eclipsa Audio format. Google and Samsung developed it, and Spatial9 provided rendered music for its launch.
